Illamasqua Liquid Metal Cream Eyeshadow Swatches and Review

I recently picked up some Illamasqua Liquid Metal cream eyeshadows, and I think these are a must have in everyones makeup bags. I bought these products from the massive sale Illamasqua are holding at the moment for £5 each , these would normally set you back £17.50 each, so a good bargain! This product is a highly pigmented ,metallic cream, the colour pay off is amazing. . The cream is really smooths and blends really well, the metallic really does show through and gives the colour at alot of depth. These creams would be good to use as a base because they are super pigmented its a great way of building up colour really quickly. You could even use these as eyeliners or applying the colour to your tear duct area to make a look pop!! I would also maybe place it to the centre of your eye or even the inner corner and blend an eyeshadow into it but keep the cream showing to give it a different dimension. The consistency is really creamy and they glide over the eye, if you are wearing them on their own then I don't think it will last that long I would recommend using an eyeshadow with them to set the cream in place this will help stop the creasing aswell. The cream liquid would look great under the Illamasqua Pure Pigments , I have recently done a post on them, the metallic cream paired with the glitter will be amazing and the pigment will seal the cream eyeshadow in place. These products are great and I will be creating alot of looks with them, keep a look out for my tutorials :)

Illamasqua Pure Pigment Swatches and Review.

I have to say I have fallen in love with these pigments, the amount of glitter you get from these products is amazing .I know at few people haven't heard of Illamasqua but they are starting to become very popular , we have counter in Debenhams and I would say they are on par with Mac, they're products and shade range is amazing . I have swatched four shades and 3 of them I got in the Illamasqua sale for only £5 each, which is amazing value as they are normally £15.50 each . The glitter is really fine and doesn't feel chunky at all, application is really smooth. These pigments can be used with a damp brush which will intensify the colour , which I haven't tried yet but look out for my future tutorials as I will be experimenting with them . The pigments don't have to just be used as eyeshadows they are good as an highlighter for your cheeks and brows, blusher and even add it to your nail polish . I love using these pigments over a base colour as it makes the colour pop and adds so much more definition to the look also with using a base it gives the colour alot more longevity and something for the glitter to stick to. The light really reflects on these products and really does dazzles. The Beguile is the lightest colour I swatched and can be used over any colours as the glitter used in it is multicoloured and will suit any look making it the most versatile . The Zeitgeist is a lovely  black with flecks of silver , would really look nice over a smokey eye . The Android is a blueish , charcoal colour with multicolured flecks of glitter and sometimes looks purple, when worn over a blue or purple base the colour really intensifies. The Incite is warm, bronzy, gold colour, for some reason this one goes on more smoothly than the others and packs a lot punch with the colour , I really love this one . If you wanted to start collecting these colours I'd say the Beguile would be the colour to get first as you would get more use with it and can be used on a number of looks. I used Beguile on my plum & gold tutorial , take a look. I purchased my pigments from the Illamasqua website but get your orders in quick because the sale is due to end on the 29/01/2013. I'm sure once you have tried these you won't be dissapointed. Get them bought quick :)

L'oreal Infallible Eyeshadow Swatches

I have done a few tutorials recently and I have used the L'oreal Infallible eyeshadows . I love these eyeshadows as they are so pigmented and easily applied . When I first bought them I thought they would be really messy to use but the texture looks like a loose powder at first glance but feels like cream when applied, L'oreal call it a Hybrid Powder texture. They have a very velvety feel to them and when used with a damp brush the colour really intensifies . The colour range is amazing and widely available at loads of stores which have the L'oreal stands . These cost £6.99 each which is a really good price as little goes a long way. I love using the golds over a base as it really gives a  nice depth to the colours and really catches the light. They are apparently water resistant and last 24 hours but I'd say they's last upto about 16 hours the most . The shades I have swatched are the colours that I think are good start to your collection as they are really versatile colours and alot of different looks can be created with them :)

I used the Goldmine and Eternal Black to create this look x

How To Do A Winged Eyeliner

I know there are alot of people out there that struggle to do a winged liner .It is one of the hardest to get right but the more you practise the better you will get . I am going to show you a cheat that will help you to confidently apply your liners. There are many products out there you can use , these range from Gel Liners, Liquid Liners, Pen Liners , Cream liners, Felt Liner etc. The main thing is to find a product you are comfortable with . The next thing is that if you are using a brush , make sure you have a good brush to apply the liner, there's so many brushes out there that you can use the main brush I like to use is a fine liner brush , I have pictured it below and I bought it from a website called Crown Brushes . The brush is called a Taklon Liner C250-1 and cost only £1.62. This brush is great for detailing and even better for doing perfect flicks on your eyeliner, I feel I have the most control with this brush and gives me the perfect finish . I am using Maybelline Gel Liner for this tutorial

Step 1 : Get a piece of sellotape , take some of the tackiness off it by rubbing it on the back of your hand or clothes, apply the tape to the outer corner of your eye. you can also keep tape on for when you are applying you eyeshadow it will give you a nice, crisp line and shape.

Step 2: With your chosen liner draw a line from you inner corner right upto the tape, small strokes are better, starting as close to your lashline as possible and building it up gradually .
Step 3 : From the outer corner draw a line following your tape , this is your flick. The length of your flick is totally up to you .

Step 4: From the top of your flick , fill in the line and connect it to your lashline .
Step 5 : Remove the tape and you should be left with a nice neat line and flick.

I hope this technique helps you to start wearing you eyeliner with confidence. The main 3 step to liner is to first create the line above the lashline, secondly draw a line for your flick from the outer corner & finally connect the flick to the lashline. Another way to get your straight line without using tape is by placing a card with a straight edge or even using a folded up piece of tissue. Its all about practising xxx

How to do A Smokey Green Eye

This look is to show you another way of doing the smokey eye look using different colours . Before you start be sure to have a dark green eyeshadow and a light green eyeshadow to blend out with.

Step 1 : Use a green base and apply it upto and just over your crease. I used my MUA Intensecolour pencil in the shade Forest Green and blend it out to soften the edges.

Step 2: Using a dark green eyeshadow apply it over the base and blend it outwards.

Step 3: With the light green , blend it into your socket and your inner corner. I used my MUA eyeshadow in Shade 29 .

Step 4 : With black pencil line the top lash line .

Step 5 : Blend out the black liner you have applied , just to soften it. Apply abit of black eyeshadow into the outer corner of your eye and keep blending it in with more of the darker green until you get the desired look.

Step 6: Line the inside of your eyes , I used a black liner but you could use your the green pencil you for the base if you like, I ran some of the black liner under my and softened it slighlty and then ran some of the green eyeshadow over it . Highlight your browbone . Add your mascara and lashes to complete the look .

The key to this look is to make sure you blend out well , keep layering and blending , it may seem at first that the colour isn't moving but keep working at it and persevere at it, and it will. When blending your socket it would be good to use a soft clean fluff brush and keep moveing it back and forward over the socket , this should give you a nice blend without having any harsh lines.

I hope you have fun recreating this look remember to follow me on Twitter @ cosmeticzjunkie and like my Facebook page : Cosmeticz Junkie , this way I can keep you up to date with all our news . I'd welcome any feedback and would love to hear from you .

A Step By Step Guide on How To Do A Gold and Green Eye

I am going to show you how to do Green and Gold eye tutorial . I often use bases in the same colour as the eyeshadow. A base can be anything from a soft pencil, gel liners to a cream eyeshadow. It can be anything you have in that colour, so if you don't have the base that I'm using but have something in a similar colour in different product then feel free to work with that . The main reason for applying a base, is that  firstly it will help your eyeshadow to stop creasing and last longer,it's also an easy way for you intensify and layer your eyeshadow up quickly . For this look you will need a dark green eyeshadow and a light green eyeshadow, I used one of my pallettes from ELF Cosmetics which has a few shades of green in it . I'm sure you'd be able to get hold of maybe a trio of colours or take a look at the MUA range as mentioned below, they're so cheap and have a wide range of colours.

Step 1: Apply a Gold base all over your lid, I used my Maybelline Colour Tattoo.

Step 2 : Apply a dark green base to the outer corner of your lid. I used my MUA pencil in the colour Forest Green. These pencils are amazing quality, they're really soft and blend so easily. Can you believe that these pencils are available from Superdrugs for £1, yes your heard right a £1 and they even come with a sharpener!!!

Step 3 : Blend both the bases together
Step 4 : Add a dark green over your green base you have applied. I used the pallete shown below , I applied the first two shades over my green base.

Step 5: Using the the two lighter greens blend the green into the lid and blend it out above the crease, try to leave your inner corner free from the green colour as we will be highlighting this area. For the inner corner I used a gold from the L'oreal Infallible range in the shade Goldemine, apply to your inner corner and blend into the green .  Another colour you could use for blending the dark green into lid is another £1 bargain MUA , its the MUA eyeshadow in Shade 29.

Step 6: Line the top of your lashes winging it out, I used Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel liner. I also added abit of black eyeshadow to the outer corner and buffed it in to intensify the colour more.

Step 6: Line your bottom lash line and your water     line and add lashes for that extra drama :)

Here is what your finished should look like.

Nanshy Foundation Brushes and Brush Holder

I was really excited when approached by a company to do a review on the Nanshy Foundation brushes. The company is a UK based company and strive to bring high quality brushes for the fraction of the cost . I received four brushes which consisted of The Nanshy Flat top, Tapered, Round and Flat Angled brush . The brushes all come with thick white handles which gives it a really nice sleek and professional look, it also makes it easy to hold, the brushes also have a nice weight to them. All of the brushes are made from  synthetic they are a 100% cruelty free and are easy to clean . I've been using them for a few days and have been quite impressed with them, I have to say though I wouldn't class them as all being foundation brushes. The Flat top and the Flat angled are really soft to touch and really glide over your skin when buffing in foundation . They both have really good movement and I would even say they are a good comparison to my Real Techniques Buffing Brush, and are definitely my two favourite brushes out of the collection . They're both good brushes for applying all types of foundation and don't use alot of product, it gives you a nice flawless finish without streaking. The Round top and the Tapered brushes are really nice but I find them too dense and when I applied my foundation with them it just dragged on my skin.  I have been experimenting with these brushes and find the tapered brush is really good for blending out your concealer, especially under your eyes as its shape helps you get into the contours of your eye and also is really good for contouring your cheeks but be careful as the brush is dense and will pick up a lot of colour . The Round top is a the most dense brush of the collection and I wouldn't call it a buffing brush as the foundation dragged the most with this brush as the bristles are tightly packed together giving the brush very little movement. This brush is a good brush for contouring and applying blushes and highlighters, I use this brush in a stippling action to avoid dragging. Overall these brushes are a good value for money, they retail at £29.95 which is a justifiable by the quality , you won't be disappointed but like I said I'd only use two of the brushes as foundation brushes but the other two have good uses for contouring and concealing . These brushes can be purchased through Amazon and Beautystore4u, I have added the links below . If you do purchase these products, please let me know what you think and how you got on with them . Flat Angled Buffer Brush

Tapered / Pointed Foundation Brush

Round Buffing Foundation Brush

I also received a brush holder, this is black in colour and has two cylinders that slot into each other and clip, closed at the sides . This is quite good for travelling and you can pack quite a lot of stuff into it . The case is quite sturdy and made out of strong material, I would take this travelling with me but my only criticism is that the clips are abit fiddly and can get abit frustrating if your in a rush . I use them as two separates on my dressing table and get twice as much products in them . This retails at £14.95, it's not a bad price but I feel the quality could be slightly better .
